For brilliance and visibility, a higher level of gold leaf lettering is required. A combination of the two, ‘matte’ and ‘burnished’ done properly, gives the best of both worlds. Generally, a burnished outline ‘moving’ around a legible matte finished letter delivers crystal clarity and movement on the glass. Above and beyond this treatment, the previously mentioned outline and or shadow not only creates the illusion of a three dimensional letter that ‘jumps’ off of the glass, but also adds life to the artwork by giving added protection against wear and tear and washing.
