Whenever gold leaf is applied over a clear varnish a finish is achieved that has a frosty finish.  Although static, a matte gold letter, on glass, wood or metal, can practically be seen from any angle.  And since the matte gold actually ‘catches’ light, a matte gold letter will almost glow in the dark.  The matte finished gold leaf letter is also enhanced and defined with the addition of a dark colored outline and or shadow, also giving the lettering the appearance of a ‘third’ dimension.
